Sakıp Sabancı Museum once again hosts its Emirgan neighbors!
24.06.2009
Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM), it does during every exhibition period, will host its Emirgan neighbors in what has become its traditional Neighbor Day activity on Wednesday, 24 June, from 10:00-22:00. Emirgan residents will be able to visit the museum and the exhibitions, “Voyage to the West – the 70 year Adventure of Turkish Painting (1860-1930)” , on exhibit until 2 August, and “Lisbon, Memories from Another City”, which continues until 2 August . Emirgan residents who show a document indicating their place of residence to obtain an invitation from their muhtar will be able to participate in Neighbor Day free of charge.
“Museum entry and tea is on us, you only need to visit the exhibition” is the slogan used to advertise this activity, by means of which SSM attempts to strengthen its relationship with its neighbors, and which always attracts the interest of local residents.
The exhibitions, which are on display in two different SSM salons, constitute the work of painters of the same era, aware of the art movements born in Paris, the period’s center of the arts, and also represent the work of the Turkish and Portugese artists who continued to reflect the images, peoples and spirit of their own cities in their paintings.
