Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM), in cooperation with the Sarıyer District Directorate of National Education and with the sponsorship of Faber-Castell, organized for the first time this year the "23 April Picture Festival" for children.
Approximately 320 children from the state primary schools in Sarıyer gathered at this festival in an art workshop endeavor. In the workshop organized by the SSM Education Department under the theme, "What do Children Thirst for?" the topic of water was the focus.
The activity was held at "the Seed", a salon inaugurated at the SSM on the occasion of the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Holiday, in keeping with its name, was filled with the color of children prepared to burst into leaf and thousands of blossoms with culture and art.
During the course of the workshop the children were made aware of global warming, the diminishing sources of drinking water and the 5th World Water Forum that was recently held in our country.
After the workshop in which Faber-Castell presented the children with the coloring materials with which to produce their pictures, the children sang songs accompanied by the Borusan Children’s Chorus.
