the Seed is welcoming 2010 with a New Year's Concert: the Best of Classics

On the evening of Tuesday, December 15th at the Seed, the “Best of Classics” concert will feature the String Orchestra under the baton of Conductor Serdar Yalçın on stage to perform the popular and timeless pieces from the geniuses of classical music.

Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s the Seed, which has been designed to play host to both important local and international artists, is recognized as a unique multipurpose venue in Istanbul. The Seed is getting ready to put on a splendid New Year’s Concert on 15th December.

Led by conductor Serdar Yalçın, the String Orchestra will perform a selection of classical music’s most popular and well-known works. The concert features soloist tenor Hüseyin Likos, soprano Otilya İpek, violinist Seda Subaşı, pianist Ender Ormanlar, cellist Şafak Erişkin Sökmen and oboist Azad Aliyev.

Tenor Hüseyin Likos will be singing well-known arias and Napolitan songs including “Nessun Dorma”, “La Donna e Mobile”, and “E Lucevan le Stelle”, and soprano Otilya İpek will perform arias such as “Somewhere” and “O mio Babbino Caro”. The concert will also feature soloists performing such masterpieces as Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, Mozart’s “Turkish March”, Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”, and Saint Saens’ “Swan”, and will end with a marvellous rendition of “Time to Say Goodbye” performed in duet by Hüseyin Likos and Otilya İpek.

Guests can dine on the Seed’s terrace with its breathtaking panoramic view of the Bosphorous, after listening to the concert which will start at 8 pm.
