“Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum. Arts of the Book & Calligraphy” exhibition hosted by Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) has been extended until March 13, 2011 due to the intense interest. The educational workshops, organized by the Sakıp Sabancı Museum Education Department, in line with the exhibition, will also continue until the same date. The museum can be visited between 10 AM – 6 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while the closing time for Wednesdays is 8 PM.
The exhibition showcases important works on paper and parchment from all parts of the Muslim world, from Indonesia to Sicily, from Andalusia to China, including gold and turquoise illuminated manuscripts from the tenth through the nineteenth centuries, complemented by a wide range of rare objects in textile, stone, wood, ceramics and metalwork from the same period with calligraphic inscriptions or decoration reminiscent of illumination.
